My First World

For as long as I can remember I was obsessed with learning about the history of Japan. It started off as wanting to know the history, then getting engrossed in the fashion through out the ages and then finally settling in and finding the great literature that comes from there. One of the worlds first novels came from Japan, The Tale of Genji.

While most lovers of Japan seem to stem from anime/video game world or have an obsession with geisha. I don't find too much of interest in them but I do fine a great deal of interest in Oiran/Tayuu and the world of prostitution. While researching for a series of short stories I plan to write based on the world of Oiran and the walled district Yoshiwara, I will be posting what I've learned and read about them here. It is a good idea to keep my thoughts and ideas flowing along with helping me remember what I need to know. Writing fiction based back in history is difficult but I enjoy it a great deal. This process will be long so aside from the research other stories will be written in between.
